Cosmic Angels and Aquatic Demons: UFOs in the Darkness

Welcome back, readers. I've had a pretty busy week since my last entry, joining my school's rowing team, getting a head start on my Halloween costume this year, and of course, plotting the next steps of this fictional universe my imagination has spawned.

Recap

-Stars are sentient gods that, as they form, grow planets around them and shelter those planets during their lifetime. Stars set the stage for life to occur, but do not directly intervene with their creations.

-The light and cosmic rays of the stars acts as a catalyst for life to grow on planets. In the warmth of the sun, Earth has become a haven of life.

-Some life has evolved deep into the ocean, or underground, away from the light of the stars. After eons of living in darkness, these life forms don't bask in the love and warmth of their planet's star. They may even be considered evil things.

-Aquatic Ape Theory is a theory in anthropology that suggests humans may have adapted to aquatic life at some point in their evolutionary timeline. This theory explains a lot of the differences between humans and other great apes, such as lack of body hair, upright walking position, and high amount of protein in the brain.

-Ancient Astronaut Theory is a belief that at some point in history, humans were visited by an extraterrestrial culture and bestowed with new knowledge/technology. Some versions of the theory also claim humans are an advanced race planted on Earth by an extraterrestrial civilization.

UFOs: What Lurks in the Abyss

The next topic on my list is the conspiracy theory of UFOs, and how UFOs might play into this world.

Typically, UFOs (Unidentified Flying Objects) are depicted as alien spacecraft, captured by eyewitness reports, blurry photos, and sometimes even video. A couple of rare cases have involved mass sightings of UFOs, with shared eyewitness accounts spanning entire cities. Almost unanimously, the assumption for years has been that UFOs are aircraft from other planets, coming to Earth for mysterious reasons. This theory has a lot of holes in it, however- the biggest one being a universal law of physics.

No object in the universe travels faster than the speed of light (186,282 miles per second). Light from Proxima Centauri, the next-closest star to Earth from the Sun, takes over four years to reach Earth. Other stars in the galaxy are thousands of light-years away from Earth, which means that if something wanted to travel to Earth from its home planet at the fastest speed possible, it would likely be dead by the time it arrived. Assuming UFOs are an actual phenomenon in the world, and other planets are too distant to support the theory, there's only one logical place we can look to find the answer.

In the past 50 years alone, people have learned exponentially more about outer space than they have learned about the deep oceans of the world. Astronauts and astronomers have explored more of the moon's surface than divers have seen of the bottom of the sea. For a planet made of 70% water, we know very little about what is in that water.

Now I'll introduce another, less-popular side of the UFO phenomenon- USOs, or Unidentified -Submerged- Objects. Many UFO accounts, including a few dating back hundreds of years, have taken place out at sea, and describe strange-shaped aircraft rising from the sea, as well as diving from the air beneath the waves. The mysterious nature of the ocean, paired with the practical explanation of Earth as the source of UFOs, leads me to believe this theory is worth exploring a little more than it has been. If Aquatic Ape Theory proves true, there could be a deep-dwelling cousin race to humanity lurking in the blackness of the deep oceans, and with brains as sophisticated as our own, these hydro-sapiens could be behind the curious aircraft that are capturing human imaginations.

Here I've begun to draw the connection between Aquatic Ape Theory and the dark creatures of the abyss, by tying them to another unexplained mystery of the world. But what motivation do these sea-dwelling people have for rising from the depths? Also, what role do UFO abductions play in their actions? That's a piece of the puzzle we will uncover another week. Thanks for reading.
